We’ve all had this happen, you make one innocent shitpost and all of a sudden 20k people have viewed it when all the grey comments start to roll in pointing out how stupid you actually are.

See that button next to the star? Click it and that annoying comment goes away.

Stop seeing all those trolling comments on your post, make them go away with the dis miss button.

The dismiss button doesn’t actually make trolls go away, it basically just grays their comment and hides it . If you visit the troll’s account you can still access or even reply to the comment. And sometimes I’ve seen   comments dismissed by other people show up in Pending.

Take off and nuke the post from orbit. It’s not worth the trouble to delete every jack hole that makes a mean comment.

Question that I can’t bother to  do the research to answer: if a thread you posted is going to complete shit, can you just delete it and make everything go away? I know you can delete a post you’re author of, but if you have lots of comments on it, can you still? Then, you can start over and hopefully in a way that just the Opponauts will come back to.

You can’t dismiss/delete your own comments (unless you are replying to yourself?). You can ask the post author to do it. You can dismiss all the replies to your reply  (one at a time) which would have the same effect as deleting the reply and reposting.

I know you can’t delete your own comments.  What I meant was, if you are the post author, can you just delete your post and have the whole thing, comments and all, go poof, like the whole discussion never happened?

Yep, you can delete your own posts and repost. You might be breaking oppo’s spamming rules if you do so, but as long as you set the post time the same as the old one it should be fine.

I don’t think it would be considered spamming if it was done in pursuit of being excellent to each other. I was just thinking if you were getting tired of your notifications filling up with poison, this could be a last resort.

It doesn’t make them go away, but it doe discourage others from joining in. Anytime I dismiss a comment I’ve never had it appear on the thread, even in pending. Yes, you can still get to it from their page, then that’ll take effort.
